This generation of the ipod has even less battery life than the 4th generation. I was listening to it for an hour and a half on the lowest brightness setting, the 2 second backlight (because you can’t see what your doing without the backlight), and the battery was indicating that I had 4/5ths of the power left. That means I could listen to music for about 6-7 hours.

My 2nd Generation ipod last 24 hours with full brightness and a 10 second backlight! I’ve had it for almost 4 years, too!

The “aluminum” casing looks like cheap plastic, and feels like it too. When I got the 4th gen ipod in purple, it was beautiful. This one was so ugly and flat colored and textureless that I couldn’t even buy the blue or purple, I had to go with pink. The pink, red, green, and “gold” (more yellow) ones are the only decent looking ones. The other ones look very cheap.

But, the radio feature, while not having the best sound, is GREAT! The tagging of your favorite songs is even better.

In the end, I had to return it (just like the 4th gen). I listen to my ipod too much in a day to have it drain in a few hours. And what is the point of a beautiful display if you can’t see it because the backlight is off and the brightness is so low?

It might have visual appeal, but it’s not worth it if you have an original or 2nd gen or even a 3rd or 4th gen, because they all look and perform better.

I, unfortunately, will never be buying an Apple ipod again =(

I like the new feature of the camera. Good camera, with an awesome screen. It’s great for a small portable music device. The sound is better than in the past.

Product has seriously broken software. The sort order for podcasts has always been somewhat broken but within a week after a ‘fix’ was announced for iPod Touch and iPhone a software update to the iPod nano made this product effectively useless. It has never been able to handle podcasts that have multiple segments for a ‘release date’. The work around was to sort alphabetically by name but since the fix it sorts alpha chinese style from right to left instead of left to right. Manual sorts in the playlist do not work since the iPod nano doesn’t play in the same order as displayed in iTunes. The problem has been demonstrated to Apple store geniuses and I am told that I am told ‘a lot of people are experiencing this’ but there seems to be no mechanism for sales to report a problem to engineering

Additionally, another ‘feature’ makes the device unable to be used for both music AND podcasts: you MUST have shuffle turned on to play music or you always play from the beginning of the list and you will get very tired of the first few tunes on the device, but you must have shuffle turned off for podcasts or you the podcasts will not be removed from the playlist after being played and you will listen to the same podcasts until you are sick of them. Trying to switch the shuffle on and off as you go from music to podcast doesn’t work because that resets the not so random number and it always plays again in the exact same order as before.

I LOVE IT! Never owned an Ipod before so I thought I’d try it! I like the easy to use features and you can turn the volume really loud! Takes really clear videos too. I love the pedomiter and turn it on when I’m on the treadmill. You can also email it [...] and track your fitness online! Its one product I know I can’t live without now!

I’ve always had iPod’s. They are the only MP3 player that I will ever purchase. They have so many extra features and last a really long time. They’re durable as well which is what I need. I seem to always be dropping mine and they last me five plus years. I was a little reluctant to use the nano because I’ve always had the video iPod and I’m definitely a creature of habit. I’m very happy with the Nano though! I love that they finally came out with an ipod with a radio built in. I like to listen to my morning radio while I’m working out and I’m able to do that now. I like that I can click the middle button when I want to know what song I’m listening to so I don’t have to constantly look down while I’m driving. The only downside was I had to buy a new ipod dock to charge it. Overall I love it. I love how it looks, sounds, plays and all the extras. I would recommend this product to anyone looking into buying an MP3 player. It’s easy to work and they’ve always lasted forever for me!
